Mechanism of action
Bone, as a connective tissue contains large amounts of collagen and calcium. Collagen forms a soft framework which connects the bone tissue together, this will give the bone its strength and durability. However, different processes of maturation of collagen occur in the bone, which can result either from enzymatic or non-enzymatic processes. The enzymatic process involves activation of lysyl oxidase, which leads to the formation of immature and mature crosslinks that stabilize the collagen fibrils. These modifications of collagen are age-related and may impair the mechanical properties of bone. In COCAL, the enzymatically hydrolyzed collagen is already activated and ready to compensate in the bone tissue connectivity, with the presence of calcium, D3. The strength of this framework will be obtained and surely the presence of Vitamin C will increase the absorbtion of collagen and also the presence of Vitamin B complex which are important bone-protecting nutrients because of their role in the detoxification of homo cysteine and also by enhancing the function of Osteoblast.
